What is SafedoorPM?
SafedoorPM is a planned maintenance (PM) and safety compliance program designed specifically for commercial door systems. It helps door dealers and technicians do a better job executing their PM programs, and helps door owners minimize door life-cycle costs, emergency door failures, and to properly manage door-related safety liability.
SafedoorPM is a cloud application that has four components:
- DEXSYS (door expert system) - SafedoorPM’s knowledge-base and expert system of commercial door maintenance practices and safety standards.
- Mobile App – an iOS app (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) used by technicians to create PM work plans, access practices and standards information, and to record PM work on their mobile devices
- Dealer Portal – a web application used by dealers to easily manage the complexity of a large number of individual PM programs
- Customer Portal – a web application that provides openness, transparency, and simple, secure record-keeping for door owners
SafedoorPM Workflow
The main goal of SafedoorPM is to ensure the right door components are inspected and maintained to the right standards and practices at the right intervals.
In SafedoorPM, "right" means manufacturers' specifications and/or industry standards, because these are the standards that matter for safety compliance and optimal door performance. SafedoorPM's knowledge-base and expert system of commercial door maintenance practices and safety standards called DEXSYS, provides this information to the Mobile app, Dealer Portal, and Customer Portal.
When a door meets the standards provided by DEXSYS, it is said to be SafedoorPM Compliant.
SafedoorPM Compliance is accomplished through the SafedoorPM inspection and maintenance workflow, outlined below:

Enroll and Configure the door system - in this step, the door is "created" in SafedoorPM, given a unique 7-digit ID number, and associated with a Customer and Building. Once enrolled, the door is configured, which is the process of inputting its defining attributes, such as door size, type, mode of operation, manufacturer, etc. |

Create a new Inspection - to create an inspection, DEXSYS is queried and provides an individualized inspection template (PM work plan), based on the door's configuration. The inspection consists of a list of inspection elements and associated work instructions detailing the maintenance practices and standards for each inspection element. |

Perform PM work - each inspection element is graded (Pass, Fail, Unable to Grade), specified maintenance and inspection work is performed, and corrective work is identified and detailed using notes and photographs. |

Make recommendations for corrective work, if any. Perform work as authorized - Follow-up work is quoted and performed per customer's approval, and the inspection is updated, including grades, for corrective work completed. |

Set the future PM schedule - the future PM schedule is set using a system of Due Months. |
